Alyaksandr Lukashenka poses a threat to Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
“Belarus under the Lukashenka regime and Lukashenka himself currently pose a threat to Ukraine’s security,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service quoted him as saying.
He added that Kyiv would maintain relations with Belarusian democratic forces and would soon approve a strategic document defining its policy toward Belarus.
“We have volunteers from Belarus who are fighting to defend our independence and our country, and these democratic forces that see a future based on good-neighborly relations with Ukraine are, naturally, the forces with which we will maintain contact and provide support. That is precisely why this meeting took place at the presidential level with Ms. Tsikhanouskaya, one of the leaders of the Belarusian democratic forces. It was indeed substantive.
We will appoint a special representative, and I hope that in the near future a strategic document defining our policy toward this country will be approved,” he said.
