On 1 April, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya presented the United Transitional Cabinet medal “For Fruitful Work for the Benefit of Belarus” to German journalist, writer and Belarus researcher Ingo Petz. He was honoured for his significant contribution to promoting Belarusian culture, supporting independent journalism and increasing international attention to Belarus, Tsikhanouskaya’s Office said.
Ingo Petz is a German journalist and writer, and a partner of the Belarusian Association of Journalists. He specialises in Belarusian culture and music and is also head of the Belarus desk at the online portal dekoder.org. Thanks to his work, Belarusian cultural and intellectual projects have become much better known in Germany.
In 2006, Petz released the CD “The Red Book of Belarusian Music” and also organised Belarusian concerts and cultural events in Berlin, helping to promote Belarusian music abroad.
In 2025, his book “Rasender Stillstand: Belarus – eine Revolution und die Folgen” was published by edition.fotoTAPETA. In it, the author analyses the events of 2020 in Belarus and places them in a broader European context.
Since 2021, Ingo Petz has initiated a number of educational programmes aimed at improving the quality and professional standards of Belarusian journalism in exile.
