Officers from the criminal investigation department of the Oktyabrsky District Police Department in Minsk detained a 21-year-old resident of Mogilev Region suspected of a series of thefts from cars. His involvement in at least two such incidents is being investigated.
As the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate reported, the young man came to the capital looking for work but instead began walking around residential courtyards and checking cars for unlocked doors.
After finding unlocked vehicles, he entered their interiors and took money left inside. In one case, the suspect stole $1,800 from a car belonging to a 36-year-old resident of Oktyabrsky District. The money had been left in a wallet. Another theft occurred in Zavodsky District of Minsk, where 800 rubles were stolen.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainee on a charge of theft.
