The Polonez-M multiple-launch rocket system is expected to be able to use a wider range of missiles in the future. This was stated by Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry Dzmitry Pantus, speaking about the modernization of the system.
“Any type of weapon must be modernized sooner or later, and the time has come for the Polonez as well. In the very near future, we plan to expand the range of missiles that can be used by this system,” he said.
It should be recalled that in October last year Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that the multiple-launch rocket system needed to be modernized. He also mentioned that work was underway to protect missiles from electronic warfare systems. Pantus also referred to this area on Tuesday.
“It is also worth noting that today all countries engaged in missile development pay special attention to missile resistance to jamming, given that electronic warfare capabilities are developing very rapidly.
This direction is now a global trend, and we are also trying to keep up with these tendencies. We are carrying out work not only in the field of missile construction, but are also dealing with issues of jamming resistance for all systems that use satellite navigation channels,” BelTA quoted Pantus as saying.
At the end of December, Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin reported to Lukashenka on launches from the modernized Polonez-M system, which features increased range and accuracy.
