Snowflake-Shaped Raft Carrying Cigarettes Floats Into Lithuania From Belarus

Another raft carrying cigarettes has floated from Belarus into Lithuania. It was recovered from the Neris River in Švenčionys District, according to Lithuania’s border service.

On Monday, May 25, Lithuanian border guards spotted a suspicious snowflake-shaped object caught in grass about 30 metres from the shore. They pulled the raft ashore and transported it to a border outpost.

Hidden inside the raft structure were 2,250 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps. Their value was estimated at €12,397. A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
