Singer Aliaksei Khliastou Sentenced to 14 Days for “Petty Hooliganism”

Singer Aliaksei Khliastou, whose detention became known today, has been sentenced to 14 days of administrative arrest for “petty hooliganism”. The information was shared by his wife on social media.

Earlier today, a video was published on Aliaksei Khliastou’s Instagram account in which he spoke about a series of “preventive conversations” with representatives of various law enforcement agencies. According to him, he had been summoned to the traffic police under the pretext of a traffic violation, then invited for a conversation with officers from GUBOPiK on Revolutsionnaya Street, followed by a visit to the city police department, and most recently to the transport inspectorate on Partizanski Avenue.

“They asked me to come, but I assume it will be the same story. That is, I will come there and then I will either be detained or invited for another conversation. For my part, I want to say that I have never committed any unlawful acts, have not done anything illegal, and therefore I ask that this video be shared so that the authorities that are actually able to protect me as a citizen of the Republic of Belarus pay attention,” he said.
