Ryzhankou to Be Removed From Basketball Federation Leadership

Former handball player and current head of the Belarusian Tennis Federation Siarhei Rutenka has been nominated as a candidate for the post of head of the Belarusian Basketball Federation (BBF). Elections for the new head are scheduled for March 13, the BBF press service reported.

At present, the position of head of the Belarusian Basketball Federation is held by Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou. As early as last spring, Alyaksandr Lukashenka proposed changing the federation’s leadership, saying, “Let him focus on the ministry. And a strong person needs to be found there, someone who will deliver results.”

According to Lukashenka, Ryzhankou “already has plenty of tasks,” while basketball is facing problems.
