During the night of Aug. 7-8, Russia launched six Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles from Russia’s Bryansk Region, as well as 151 attack drones against Ukraine. Missile and drone strikes were recorded at 13 locations, while debris fell at seven locations. Some of the missiles failed to reach their targets, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
In the Brovary district of Kyiv Region, three people were killed after a residential building was hit: a grandmother, a grandfather and their three-year-old grandson. Four people were hospitalized: the child’s parents, his 15-year-old brother and a neighbor who came to help the family and was injured during a second strike, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“It was an ordinary residential building. The Russians could not have failed to know that,” Zelenskyy said.
Falling debris damaged a private house, outbuildings and vehicles.
In Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, strikes caused garages and a non-residential building storing cardboard to catch fire. In the city’s Obolonskyi district, an industrial facility caught fire, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.
Six ballistic missiles were launched at Kyiv’s civilian infrastructure. Authorities have confirmed one fatality.
A Sumy-Kyiv passenger train also came under attack in Sumy Region. The train crew evacuated passengers to a safe distance in time. No one was injured. A drone struck the locomotive, damaging one of the train’s carriages, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
