An oil refinery in the city of Syzran, Russia’s Samara Region, was attacked during the night of Aug. 8. Eyewitnesses have posted photos and videos online showing the facility on fire.
The attack was confirmed by Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev on his social media accounts.
“One of the industrial enterprises in the Samara Region came under attack by enemy drones overnight. Emergency response efforts are currently underway to deal with the aftermath. Operational services are working at the drone impact site. Information on possible casualties is being clarified,” he wrote.
JSC Syzran Oil Refinery is a Russian fuel-producing oil refinery. It is part of Rosneft. The refinery has a processing capacity of 8.9 million tonnes (65.1 million barrels) of crude oil per year.
