Russia Strikes Central Lviv With Drones, Injuries Reported

On March 24, Russia attacked Lviv with drones. Several residential buildings in the city center were damaged.

According to preliminary data, 13 people were injured. They have been taken to hospitals. The number of wounded may increase, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said.

Our colleague witnessed the strike on central Lviv and described it in her blog. Her account is reproduced in full:

“I was choosing flowers near ‘Roksolana’ and first heard the sound of a ‘Shahed,’ somehow picking it out among the other sounds of central Lviv. I looked up and saw the ‘Shahed’ flying, clearly descending among the dense old buildings. I ran toward the entrance to the market, heard and felt the explosion, briefly looked up again and saw burning fragments (debris) of various sizes falling from above, as if in slow motion. In the next second I said goodbye to my life but kept running through the Halytskyi Market because there are canopies there. Then I heard air defense systems operating, women around me were crossing themselves and telling others to pray, a vendor at the market showed glass with a hole from shrapnel, and in a nearby café people were helping a girl stop bleeding from her temple, while mothers carefully explained to their children what was happening.

Now there is still a sense of numbness and slowed reactions, but I am glad that at that very moment my reactions worked as they should.

One of my favorite places in Lviv. I hate it.”
