Russia Imposes Ban on Diesel Fuel Exports

The Russian government has extended a temporary ban on diesel fuel exports to include producers. The relevant Resolution No. 854 was published on July 8.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced the new restrictions during a meeting between Vladimir Putin and members of the government.

“Today we introduced a ban on diesel fuel exports, and this will make it possible to increase supplies to the domestic market,” he said.

Until now, the export ban, in force since the end of January, had applied only to companies that were not diesel fuel producers. The restrictions have now been extended to petroleum product manufacturers as well. The Russian government said the decision was taken to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market.

The restrictions do not apply to diesel fuel supplies made under international intergovernmental agreements.
