Aliaksandr Lukashenka has signed a law ratifying an intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Russia on the operating conditions of the Belarusian-Russian University. The Belarusian politician’s press service reported the decision.
The agreement regulates certain aspects of the educational, financial and economic activities of the interstate higher education institution in accordance with the legislation of the two countries, as well as the “established practice and cooperation mechanism” between the Belarusian and Russian sides.
Under the agreement, educational activities, licensing, accreditation and certification, as well as admission procedures for Belarusian educational programmes, will be carried out in accordance with Belarusian legislation. The corresponding procedures for Russian educational programmes will be conducted under Russian legislation.
The implementation of the agreement is expected to create “additional conditions for the development of a unified educational environment and the expansion of the university’s scientific, scientific-technical and innovation activities” with the participation of organisations from both countries. It is also expected to contribute to the training of “highly qualified engineering personnel” for the economy of the Union State.
