Russia Bans Import of 25 Tonnes of Belarusian Potatoes

Russia has returned more than 25 tonnes of potatoes to Belarus, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) reports.

A truck carrying the shipment was stopped in Russia’s Bryansk region near the Belarusian border on October 20. The vehicle had come from the Homiel region. The driver did not have the required phytosanitary accompanying documents.

The potatoes were sent for testing, which found no harmful quarantine organisms in the samples. Nevertheless, their import into Russia was prohibited, and the shipment was returned to Belarus.
