Russia Attacks Kyiv Overnight With More Than 120 Drones and 12 Missiles

On the night of July 11, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using more than 120 drones and 12 missiles, half of them ballistic. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Eleven people were injured in the Ukrainian capital, including a child. Strikes on civilian infrastructure began even before an air raid alert was declared. Residential buildings, offices and a theological seminary were damaged. Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the attacks are also continuing in the Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down most of the targets, but were unable to intercept the ballistic missiles.

“We expect our partners to fulfil their promises regarding support packages to protect our people, which were agreed during the NATO meeting. It is necessary to move forward as quickly as possible on agreements concerning Patriot licences and a joint European missile defence project. The number one task for all our institutions now is to ensure this”, Zelenskyy said.
