The international organisation Reporters Without Borders has expressed concern about the fate of imprisoned journalist Dzmitry Navazhylau.
“After the release of five journalists in Belarus, RSF remains extremely concerned about the fate of Dzmitry Navazhylau, who was included on the list of pardoned prisoners but about whom the prison authorities refuse to provide any information. We call for his immediate release”, the organisation said in a statement.
Dzmitry Navazhylau’s name appeared on the lists of political prisoners who were pardoned following Alyaksandr Lukashenka‘s meeting with a U.S. delegation on 19 March. However, on 31 March, the Belarusian Association of Journalists reported that there had been no contact with Navazhylau and that he had likely not been released.
