Belarusian Car Market Grew By 38% In March

The Belarusian car market accelerated sharply in March. A total of 5,700 vehicles were sold during the month, which was 38% more than in February, the Belarusian Automobile Association reported.

“BELGEE remains the market leader. In March, the company sold 3,200 vehicles. Experts paid particular attention to the surging demand for the Geely EX2 electric vehicle: its sales jumped by 125%, reaching 383 units. This is the best monthly result among all electric vehicle models available in the country”, the association said.

The share of Belarusian-made brands accounted for 62% of the total market volume.

Sales of the Russian brand Lada also recovered in March. They increased by 77%. A total of 850 vehicles were sold during the month.

A total of 1,800 electric vehicles were sold in March.

“Such a sharp jump in sales in March may be linked to pent-up demand: the severe winter frosts at the beginning of the year held back buyers who were waiting for warmer weather to renew their vehicle fleets. Current figures provide an optimistic outlook for the entire spring season”, the Belarusian Automobile Association said.
