Vladimir Putin announced that operational exercises of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus, Union Shield 2027, are planned for next year. The announcement was made during today’s joint training on the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support for military units.
“Without question, we will continue increasing the combat readiness of other branches and services of the armed forces and practise combat training tasks taking into account the experience of the special military operation, including this year during joint training sessions and manoeuvres.
Among them, I would highlight the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces exercise Interaction-2026 on Russian territory and the CSTO peacekeeping forces exercise Indestructible Brotherhood-2026 on the territory of Belarus.”, he said.
“In addition, next year we plan to conduct operational exercises of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia, Union Shield 2027. Such systematic and consistent steps are necessary to strengthen the defence capabilities of our countries and to reliably protect the citizens of Russia and Belarus from potential threats coming from all directions.”, the Kremlin press service quoted him as saying.
