Prosecutors Find Snow Banks More Than a Metre Wide in Mazyr

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Homiel Region reported on its monitoring of municipal services during periods of snowfall and frost. It noted that, overall, коммунальные services responded promptly to weather conditions. However, as usual, certain shortcomings were identified.

“During snowfalls, when clearing roadways, crossings and sidewalks in Mazyr, snow banks more than a metre wide were formed, which in some places completely blocked pedestrian crossings and parking areas,” the statement said.

In Chechersk, prosecutors’ complaints concerned the failure to clear access roads to a snow storage site.

In Homiel, roofs and facades were not cleared of snow, ice and icicles in a timely manner.

“In the Rechytsa and Petrikaw districts, spontaneous sledding hills were discovered, from which descents posed a real threat of sliding onto the roadway and towards water bodies,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

Submissions, orders and information notes were issued in response to all the identified violations.
