The Hrodna Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal case against officials of the charity foundation Miracle for Children. They are accused of fraud on an especially large scale.
According to prosecutors, foreign nationals serving as the foundation’s founders, director and deputy director misappropriated at least 390,000 rubles between June 2024 and April 2025.
“It is known that the collection of money and donations was carried out by volunteers on the central streets of the regional centres of Hrodna, Brest, Vitsyebsk and Homiel.
Between 20 and 50 volunteers worked in each regional centre. They were unaware of the criminal schemes of the foundation’s organisers and the theft of funds, believing that all donations were being used to help needy and sick children. Funds were collected in cash and through transfers to the foundation’s bank account using the donor’s bank card.
In most cases, the collected funds were not used for charitable assistance, but were spent on the personal needs of the suspects,” prosecutors said.
One of the suspects has been detained. The others are abroad.
