Prosecutor’s Office Conducts Marketplace Raid in Search of Weapons

The Minsk City Prosecutor’s Office has discovered listings on online marketplaces offering “traumatic-impact weapons classified as firearms.”

Administrators of the online platforms were instructed to remove the listings. They complied, but the matter did not end there — the marketplaces also implemented measures to prevent such advertisements from being posted in the future.

The Interior Ministry was additionally tasked with conducting an inspection based on the identified facts.

“As a result of the Minsk City Prosecutor’s Office order, criminal cases have been initiated against six citizens under Part 2 of Article 295 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus; two individuals voluntarily surrendered their traumatic weapons, and inspections are currently being conducted in accordance with Article 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus in relation to four persons. A total of 12 units of firearms have also been seized from illegal circulation,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
