Problems Arise With Improvement Works In Zhyrovichy As Lukashenka’s Aide Visits Site

Kanstantsin Burak, an aide to Alyaksandr Lukashenka and inspector for the Hrodna region, visited Zhyrovichy to oversee improvement works in the agrotown. He was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee Andrei Zhuk.

Burak recalled that the area was supposed to be put in order by 9 May and noted that state authorities had reported that not all works were proceeding smoothly.

He listened to reports and assigned specific tasks to local authorities, contractors and other stakeholders, the state news agency BelTA reported.

“Regardless of whether the jurisdiction is secular or church authority, all buildings, territories, road infrastructure and other facilities must be reconstructed, modernized and repaired with quality and in compliance with technological standards. It is necessary to ensure that improvement works and order are established in the agrotown by the set deadline, including all economic entities on its territory, and to bring into economic use the lands that underwent land reclamation in 2025,” the inspector for the Hrodna region said.

In September 2025, Lukashenka demanded that Zhyrovichy be put in order.

“There must not be a single neglected plot here. We must create an ideal place here for Orthodox believers. In spring you will have a final exam here. Everywhere — this agrotown of Zhyrovichy. Everything around must be perfect,” he said.
