A 28-year-old man was killed by the explosion of a World War II-era shell in the agrotown of Parakhonsk in the Pinsk District, the Investigative Committee reported.
On the afternoon of July 26, neighbors of the deceased heard the sound of metal striking metal coming from his yard. After an explosion, they found the man in the yard of his home with no signs of life. His body bore injuries consistent with a blast-related trauma.
An investigative team recovered fragments of the detonated shell, shell casings and components of unexploded mortar rounds.
Investigators established that the man was interested in searching for World War II artifacts and had a particular interest in explosive ordnance. He brought all of his finds home.
