PhotoArtDoc invites authors from around the world — photographers and artists working with photography — to take part in its competition. The theme for 2026 is Transformation (nomination “Transition as a State”).
The field of interpretation remains open, ranging from personal and bodily experience to explorations of social, cultural and political transformations.
The visual content of the project must be based on photography (a photographic image). Photography is defined as an image created through the registration of light radiation passing through an optical system, followed by fixation on a light-sensitive material or digital sensor. At the same time, authors may use montage, collage, multiple exposure and other image transformation methods. In the accompanying text, the author must describe the processes and methods used in creating the project.
Winners will be selected by a competent international jury.
At the first stage, the jury will form a shortlist of up to 10 photo projects. From these shortlisted projects, winners will be selected and awarded first, second and third places.

The PhotoArtDoc festival is organised by the Belarusian Independent Photographic Association, established in September 2023. The festival works with photography at the intersection of documentary and art. This type of photography is intended not only to document reality but also to provide authors with broad opportunities to explore and interpret events, phenomena and trends in contemporary society. Today, it is one of the most востребованных fields in photography, attracting authors worldwide seeking to make sense of reality.
