Moscow and Minsk coordinate most activities to assess the combat readiness of the Belarusian army. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this in response to a question from RIA Novosti.
According to him, Belarus also conducts activities independently.
“There are joint activities, and there are national activities that are not coordinated. But overall, most of them, of course, are coordinated,” he said.
The day before, at the Obuz-Lesnovsky combined-arms training ground in the Brest region, Aliaksandr Lukashenka was asked whether the task was to assess the entire security and defense sector following the large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces earlier this year and the current inspection of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops.
“I have already put it in plain language: the army needs to be shaken up; the time has come. The entire army. We will check everyone. Up to and including mobilization,” he replied.
