The State Customs Committee reported that an IVECO truck was stopped on the M1 highway during a special operation. According to the accompanying documents, the van was carrying car parts. However, during an inspection, customs officers also found around 3,800 units of other goods, including musical instruments, perfume, pet food and premium-brand alcohol without Belarusian excise stamps.
Customs officers established that the commercial consignment had been brought into the Eurasian Economic Union under the guise of goods for personal use. According to the State Customs Committee, to avoid paying customs duties, the cargo was split into smaller consignments and distributed among different individuals in Poland to be transported across the border.
The total value of the seized goods was around 500,000 Belarusian rubles. The cargo has been seized pending a court ruling.
Administrative proceedings have been initiated over the violations under Part 2 of Article 15.1, Article 13.12 and Part 2 of Article 13.18 of the Belarusian Code of Administrative Offences.
