Orange Weather Alert to Remain in Effect on May 8

An orange-level weather danger alert will remain in effect on May 8, according to a warning issued by meteorologists.

“During the day on May 8 (Friday), a sharp change in weather conditions is expected, with temperatures dropping: maximum air temperatures across most of the country will range from +10°C to +16°C. Heavy rains are expected in many areas of the republic,” the statement said.

Weather conditions in Belarus have remained at the “orange” alert level over recent days. At the same time, the Emergency Situations Ministry has not yet reported any serious incidents.

Tomorrow’s weather will be influenced by slow-moving atmospheric fronts and the inflow of a cool air mass. Cloudy weather is expected. Rain is forecast, with heavy rain in many areas during the day and in some places at night.

Thunderstorms are expected in some districts. Winds of variable direction will be moderate, with gusts in places. Minimum nighttime temperatures will range from +4°C in the northwest to +15°C in the southeast, while daytime temperatures will fall to +10°C to +16°C, rising to +17°C to +23°C in the southeast and up to +27°C in the Homiel region.
