Novak Says “Belarusian Track” Helped Stabilise Russia’s Fuel Market

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak cited the “Belarusian track” as one of the factors that helped overcome problems on the fuel market.

“We restricted exports of petrol and diesel fuel in order to prioritise supplying the domestic market. We created conditions so that, in particular, along the Belarusian track, additional imports of petroleum products made from oil that we supply for processing in the Republic of Belarus would be possible. We used remaining stocks,” he said.

According to Novak, the fuel market is now balanced. The period of heightened demand was managed by the government in manual control mode.

“The government took appropriate measures to saturate the fuel market together with oil companies. We held regular coordination meetings with business and continue to do so, constantly monitoring the situation together with the Energy Ministry, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the companies,” he said, TASS reported.
