New Zealand on Tuesday expanded the sanctions it imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
The sanctions list now includes the Belarusian company OAO Alevkurp. The enterprise is part of the State Authority for Military Industry system. It specialises in research and development for the design and modernisation of radar systems, the creation of new radar systems, advanced technologies for real-time digital signal and data processing, as well as microwave and intermediate-frequency equipment. In particular, Alevkurp is involved in the modernisation of old Soviet-made air defence missile systems.
New Zealand also imposed sanctions on a number of Russian defence industry enterprises, the cryptocurrency exchange Garantex and its management, the Iranian drone manufacturer Qods Aviation Industries and its executives, and two North Korean companies, Sobaeksu United Corp and Korea Ryonbong General Corporation. The list also includes more than ten officers of Russia’s military intelligence agency, the GRU.
Another sanctioning measure is a reduction of the price cap on Russian oil to 44.1 dollars per barrel. The same level was previously set by the European Union. Sanctions were also imposed on 100 vessels belonging to the so-called shadow fleet.
