Latvian television channel TV3, in its programme Nekā personīga, reported on a case involving the Telegram chat “Antifascists of the Baltics”, which has been under investigation by the State Security Service since 2022. Its participants are suspected of working for foreign intelligence services.
According to the channel, at least three people linked to the group have been detained over the past two weeks. The arrests are based on documents obtained by the organisation Dossier Center, which is associated with Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
As TV3 reports, the materials show that the group was not merely a club of Russia supporters. Its members attempted to infiltrate drone manufacturing plants in Latvia, collected information on the movement of military equipment, and monitored individuals who support Ukraine. For example, shop security guard Igor Andreyev for a long time provided Russian intelligence services with information about visitors displaying Ukrainian symbols and vehicle registration numbers, and passed on personal data of people that he obtained at his workplace. He was arrested and placed in custody.
It is noted that two members of the group — Tatsiana Andryiets and Aliaksandr Zhgun — are currently on trial in Latvia. Others — Siarhei Vasilyeu, Viktoryia Matule, Raman Samul and Stanislau Bakains — fled to Russia or Belarus. Belarusian state media, as reported by “Svaboda”, have mentioned the names of Viktoryia Matule and Raman Samul.
