The Moscow–Polotsk passenger train was temporarily halted due to a locomotive malfunction, Belarusian Railways reported.
According to the railway operator, train No. 240, which departed Moscow on January 8, 2026 at 11:40 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Polotsk at 10:12 a.m. on January 9, was stopped for technical reasons after a diesel locomotive failure on the Liozna–Krynki section.
A backup locomotive was dispatched from Vitebsk to the site. The train resumed its journey at 9:03 a.m.
The train is expected to arrive in Polotsk with a delay of approximately one and a half hours.
