Belarus will experience strong winds over the next three days. Meteorologists have issued a warning with an orange level of danger.
“At night and in the morning of December 26 (Friday), strengthening of the westerly and north-westerly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s is expected in many areas of the country. During the daytime on December 27 (Saturday), strengthening of the westerly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s is expected across most of Belarus. On December 28 (Sunday), strengthening of the north-westerly wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s is expected in many areas of the country, and up to 24 m/s in places in the west,” the warning said.
Tomorrow, Belarus will be under the influence of atmospheric fronts from a cyclone whose centre will move from Arkhangelsk Region to the Middle Volga. Cloudy weather with occasional clear spells is expected. At night and in the morning across most of the country, and during the day mainly in the east, precipitation is expected in the form of snow, wet snow and rain. At night, heavy snow and drifting snow are possible in some places, with light icing in isolated areas. Icy conditions are expected on some road sections. Minimum night-time air temperatures will range from 0 to minus 6 degrees Celsius, and from minus 7 to minus 11 degrees in the south-west. Daytime maximum temperatures will range from 0 to plus 5 degrees.
On Saturday, the weather will be determined by unstable air masses, with the influence of frontal systems moving from Scandinavia during the day. Cloudy conditions are expected, with clear spells at night. At night, light short-term wet snow is possible in places in the east, while during the day intermittent precipitation in the form of wet snow and rain is expected. Light icing is possible in some areas, with icy roads. Night-time temperatures will range from 0 to minus 5 degrees, and daytime temperatures from minus 2 to plus 4 degrees.
On Sunday, the influence of frontal systems will persist. Snow and wet snow are expected. In some areas, drifting snow and light icing are possible, with icy conditions on roads. Night-time temperatures will range from minus 4 to plus 2 degrees, and daytime temperatures from minus 4 to plus 3 degrees.
