The Homyel Regional Court has sentenced political prisoner Iryna Levina from Mazyr to four years of so-called “home confinement”. She was convicted under Article 361-4, Parts 1 and 2, of the Criminal Code for facilitating “extremist” activity, Homyelskaya Viasna reports.
According to the prosecution, Levina passed information to the monitoring project Belarusian Hajun.
Iryna Levina was detained on June 25, 2025, as she was leaving the Mazyr Oncology Dispensary. She was held for some time in a pre-trial detention centre in Homyel, but was later released due to a deterioration in her health.
Previously, human rights defenders reported that Levina requires a bone marrow transplant operation.
