MART Issues Warning to BelGee Over “Discount” Promotion

Belarus’s Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade issued a warning to BelGee over the possible misleading of consumers in the promotion of the BelGee S50 car.

As the ministry reported on April 15, it analysed the price dynamics of the model after receiving complaints from citizens. It found that at the end of 2025 the car had been sold at prices ranging from 52,900 to 60,900 Belarusian roubles depending on the configuration.

In 2026, the company promoted a “New Prices” programme offering one-time discounts of between 4,700 and 6,900 Belarusian roubles. However, the base price of the car had already been raised to between 58,200 and 67,800 Belarusian roubles, and the discount was calculated from that amount.

MART noted that despite the announced discounts, the retail price of the car in practice remained at a level comparable to prices when the model entered the market in December 2024.

According to the ministry, the dissemination of such information may mislead consumers about the real reduction in the cost of the product and the supposed benefit of purchasing it, which contains signs of violations of legislation on advertising and consumer protection.

To prevent further violations, MART warned BelGee against using such marketing practices.
