Belarus’ Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) reported that it had inspected 190 retail entities, including 40 household appliance and electronics sellers and 150 online stores. Violations were found in 80% of cases.
“It was established that the online store 5element.by had set a minimum purchase amount for delivery (80 Belarusian rubles); if the order value is lower, delivery is unavailable. The business entity was issued an order to eliminate violations of consumer protection legislation,” MART said in a statement.
A store belonging to the 5 Element retail chain in Mahiliou was found to be selling a floor-cleaning product that had passed its expiration date.
Elektrosila stores in Minsk were selling products with incorrect manufacturing dates indicated on their labels.
“A case was identified of advertising household pyrotechnic products prohibited from sale on the website good-shop.by. The online store tehnoizol.by, which sells roofing and waterproofing materials, was operating without being entered into the Trade Register. Similarly, tsila.by, which sells concrete products, was conducting business without the required registration,” MART added.
