The Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation into the death of a man at Hromy station in Polatsk district on the night of August 30.
According to the Investigative Committee, work was being carried out there to move railcars to a woodworking company.
The train conductor, who was in the first railcar in the direction of travel, spotted a person lying on the tracks in the darkness. He alerted the driver that emergency braking was necessary. The diesel locomotive was at the rear of the train and was pushing the railcars. However, the collision could not be avoided.
The 61-year-old man died at the scene.
