A man died in Ushachy District after failing to follow safety procedures while operating an angle grinder, the State Committee of Forensic Examinations reported.
The 64-year-old resident of Ushachy District was working in the yard of a private home, using an angle grinder to remove rust from metal. To protect himself from dust, he tied a cloth scarf around his head and neck. A loose end of the fabric became caught in the rotating attachment of the tool. The spindle wound up the scarf and tightened it around his neck. The man died before help arrived.
According to the findings of a forensic medical examination, the cause of death was mechanical asphyxia. The deceased was sober.
