Lukashenka Tells Newly Promoted Generals About an International “War Party” and Says He Will Not Send Them to the Slaughter

Aliaksandr Lukashenka, speaking at a ceremony honoring graduates of higher military educational institutions and senior military officers, touched on Russia’s war against Ukraine. He stressed that he would not send the newly promoted generals to the slaughter but warned that the international “war party” does not want the conflict to be resolved.

“While hypocritically declaring its commitment to peace, the European Union has openly embarked on a course of militarization (which is, in fact, NATO). Billions are being spent on the procurement of offensive weapons. At the same time, absurd hysteria is being stirred up over the imaginary ‘threat from the East,'” he said, according to his press service.

He also referred to the existence of what he described as a “war party” that is prolonging the conflict.

“The ‘war party’ is doing everything possible to prolong this armed confrontation, the international ‘war party,'” he said.

According to him, Belarus is facing a “hybrid war.”

“The hybrid war against our country continues. Economic diktat, political and information pressure are being supplemented by active espionage and provocations along our southern borders. Certain Western politicians are simply irritated by our sovereignty and independence. By our alliance with Russia and our commitment to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. I emphasize once again, dear comrades: no one is going to send you into this slaughter. We do not need war, and it is bad that war is continuing in Ukraine. We support the peaceful resolution of issues. But, as I have said, the international ‘war party’ does not want this.

It is clear that the heirs of the Third Reich are haunted by the ghosts of their grandfathers’ and great-grandfathers’ military defeats. Their thirst for revenge gives them no peace,” he said.

According to him, the Belarusian people are peaceful people who do not want war but do not intend to bow their heads before an enemy.

Today, Aliaksandr Lukashenka presented the rank insignia of major general to Colonels Aliaksandr Aheichyk and Dzmitry Sobal, and the rank of major general of justice to Justice Colonel Maksim Spryntsin. The rank insignia of State Counsellor of the Customs Service, Third Rank, was presented to Vitsyebsk Customs chief Siarhei Linkevich, while the insignia of State Counsellor of Justice, Third Class, was awarded to Homiel Region Prosecutor Aleh Audzei.
