Aliaksandr Lukashenka, speaking at the opening ceremony of the 15th Republican Festival of National Cultures in Hrodna, once again stated that Belarus is ready for dialogue with its western neighbours.
“We are not imposing ourselves, but we remain ready for a civilised dialogue in the interests of our peoples,” he said.
Lukashenka stressed that Belarus does not want war and rejected characterisations of Belarus as a co-aggressor in the war.
“The main thing I want to tell you is this: if someone tries to convince you that we are warmongers and not peaceful people, do not believe it. We are not going to fight anyone — only friendship. We do not set ourselves the goal of waging war; we want to be peaceful people, we want to live peacefully. I want people here in western Belarus, in Hrodna, to understand this firmly: we want peace, we bring peace to peoples.
We are not aggressors or co-aggressors. We will do everything for peace. Because war is a catastrophe. War would never allow us to gather as we have today. We do not need war. We can win — and we certainly will win — only in peace, through peaceful work,” Lukashenka said.
