Alyaksandr Lukashenka showcased Belarusian small arms to Kim Jong Un, with one of the weapons presented to the North Korean leader as a gift.
Lukashenka’s press service released a video of the exchange of gifts with Kim Jong Un.
Kim presented Lukashenka with a bladed weapon, a vessel featuring his portrait made from shells of various mollusks, and a gold medal.
Lukashenka’s gifts were more numerous.
“Our people are not fighting now, but small arms will always be needed by a soldier. So we have started producing small arms,” Lukashenka said, showing Kim an automatic weapon without a magazine inserted.
Kim picked up the rifle, tested how it felt in his hands, and immediately racked the bolt.
“That’s correct. Kim Jong Un knows how to handle weapons,” Lukashenka commented.
“Just in case enemies appear,” he added.
The exchange of other gifts followed. Kim was presented with a Slutsk belt. His daughter received a jewelry box, and his wife was given a golden bouquet of cornflowers.
Lukashenka also presented alcoholic beverages.
“These are what general secretaries in the Soviet Union used to enjoy. When they went hunting in Belavezhskaya Pushcha, they drank these beverages — Zubrouka and Belavezhskaya. These are herbal infusions. And also Belarusian balsam. You can drink it with tea or with vodka,” Lukashenka said.
Kim asked about the strength of the drinks.
“And this is from our farmers, made by themselves,” Lukashenka continued, presenting another beverage.
“These are modern gift versions. They are not sold in stores, but this is the best vodka in the world. The UN Secretary-General drinks only this vodka,” he added.
Next came chocolate, which is also not sold in stores and is sometimes produced at a factory specifically for gifts. It contains no preservatives and must be consumed within two weeks.
Kim was also offered marshmallows and other food products, including dairy.
“We will also send dairy products to your refrigerators so you can see what we can produce from milk. Your people once wanted to come to us to see how we make dairy products. Let them come — we will teach them,” Lukashenka said.
Textile products made from flax were also presented.
