Russian Loses Car At Belarus Border Over 13 Liters Of Wine

A Russian citizen lost his car after attempting to smuggle 13 liters of wine across the Belarusian border.

The incident occurred at the Benyakoni checkpoint. The man was traveling from Lithuania in a Dodge car. He submitted a passenger declaration for the temporary import of his vehicle but did not declare any other goods subject to declaration.

“After inspecting the vehicle using scanning equipment, Hrodna customs officers decided to conduct a detailed search. As a result, eight bottles containing liquid were found in the luggage compartment, hidden behind plastic paneling,” the State Customs Committee said.

An examination confirmed that the bottles contained wine. The alcohol and the vehicle were seized. Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the Russian citizen. A court will decide whether to confiscate the seized goods and the car.
