Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone, congratulated each other on Easter and discussed current bilateral issues and upcoming high-level contacts.
One of the key topics of the conversation was cooperation in the “Belarus-Russia-North Korea” format. Following Lukashenka’s official visit to North Korea, a list of promising areas of cooperation was identified, and during the conversation the sides discussed the possibility of implementing several projects in a trilateral format.
Lukashenka confirmed that he would attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9. The sides also discussed preparations for the next Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which will be held in June in Minsk and the Minsk region and will focus on economic cooperation, as well as regional and international issues, Lukashenka’s press service said.
“Current issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including in the trade and economic sphere. The parties confirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening Russian-Belarusian allied relations and close interaction at various levels. They also exchanged views on a number of issues on the international agenda”, the Kremlin press service said.
