Alyaksandr Lukashenka commented on the war in Iran, saying that Belarus holds a “careful, balanced, human position” and does not intend to get involved in the conflict. He said this while answering journalists’ questions, BelTA reports.
“We are taking a careful, balanced position. A human one. We had good relations with Iran. The country was bombed. An ancient country. Very spiritual people, Muslims. The war has begun,” he said, recalling his meeting with the Iranian ambassador.
“We are not getting involved in this war. I do not want to impose any problems on my country. The Americans and the Jews have already created so many problems for themselves there,” he stated.
According to Lukashenka, the attack did not achieve its goals.
“I know what they wanted — four or five points, starting with overthrowing the government and ending with bombing nuclear facilities and forcing a renunciation of nuclear weapons. Nothing worked,” he said, adding that in Iran “many tunnels were dug and facilities were hidden.”
