Aliaksandr Lukashenka has sent condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Lukashenka’s press service reported. The statement cites a “treacherous attack” as the cause of the “death.”
“It is with deep pain and sorrow that the Republic of Belarus has received the tragic news of the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, as a result of a treacherous attack.
For decades, he served his people, invariably guided by fidelity to traditions and responsibility to future generations. Through his wisdom and foresight, he earned high recognition and enjoyed well-deserved authority far beyond the borders of his state.
The spiritual leader remained faithful to his people until his last breath and courageously accepted martyrdom, defending Iran’s sovereignty and independence.
The memory of Ali Khamenei and his service to the country will remain in the hearts of millions of people. His life’s path will remain part of Iran’s national heritage and an important page in world history,” Lukashenka stressed.
According to his press service, Aliaksandr Lukashenka noted that he had the honor of meeting this outstanding statesman, who made a significant contribution to the development of comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Belarus.
“His good name and courage will remain in our memory,” the statement said.
“At this sorrowful time, on behalf of the Belarusian people and on my own behalf, I extend sincere words of condolence and support. We share the pain of the loss and express solidarity with Iran at such a difficult moment,” the Belarusian ruler noted.
Notably, the condolence message does not mention the United States or Israel, whose joint attack reportedly led to the elimination of the Iranian leader.
