Aliaksandr Lukashenka on April 26 visited the dairy complex of OAO “Agro-Liaskavichy” in the Petrykaŭ District. One of the main topics was the cost of building calf barns. Lukashenka demanded that such facilities be constructed “cheaply and functionally”, without excess.
“We do not need square meters, we need a functional calf barn for a certain number of animals”, he said.
According to him, if farms build using their own funds, they may construct facilities of any cost, while budget funds must be spent rationally.
“To build ‘palaces’ that are twice as expensive… If it is with their own money, I will welcome expensive ‘palaces’ for these little ones”, he noted.
Lukashenka also said that wood could be used in the construction of calf barns in order to save money.
“We have forests rotting at the edges. Build a calf barn, it will last 20% less than this one — we will build a new one. Maybe we will become richer”, the press service quoted him as saying.
He also set the task of more actively developing beef cattle farming.
“We need to develop this more actively, he said about raising beef cattle. Demand will be there”.
According to him, global demand for both food and fertilizers is growing, and prices are rising along with it.
“Our time, in my opinion, is coming. It was not in vain that we invested in agriculture”, he said.
