Lukashenka Appoints Head of Belarus Segodnya Publishing House

Aliaksandr Lukashenka on Thursday appointed Volha Anufryieva as director and editor-in-chief of the Belarus Segodnya (Belarus Today) Publishing House.

The position had remained vacant after the previous head of the publishing house, Dzmitry Zhuk, was appointed information minister.

Anufryyeva will join Belarus Segodnya from another state-owned media holding. She previously served as editor-in-chief of the Zviazda publishing house.

Appointing Anufryieva, Lukashenka emphasized that her main task would be propaganda.

“Do not forget that, like other representatives of the mass media, you bear responsibility for society as a whole. In addition to your primary work, you will have to work with people, inform them, campaign and engage in propaganda. There is no need to be afraid of this; everyone does it, although they are often called offensive names because of it. There is no need to be afraid.

We promote what is best. We campaign for the normal way of life that exists, thank God, in Belarus. We have not betrayed anything here or changed anything for the worse. Like ministers, you will have to engage in promoting what is good and campaigning for what is better,” he said.
