Aliaksandr Lukashenka has signed an order allocating money from the presidential fund for the restoration of two religious sites — the Assumption Cathedral in Zhyrovichy and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Budslau.
About 3.4 million Belarusian rubles will be allocated for the continuation of the restoration of the iconostasis of the Assumption Cathedral in Zhyrovichy. The work began in 2025. To date, the upper section of the 1670 iconostasis has been fully restored. Restoration work on the remaining elements will continue in 2026.
The Minsk-Mahiliou Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church will receive more than 260,000 Belarusian rubles for priority works at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Budslau. The funds will be used to prepare documentation for reinforcing the foundations, walls, vaults and arches.
“The implementation of these projects will make a significant contribution to preserving and enhancing Belarus’ historical and cultural heritage,” Lukashenka’s press service said.
