Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, her deputy Paval Latushka, and Coordination Council Speaker Arciom Brukhan met with the Speaker of the Polish Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Tsikhanouskaya’s Office reported.
Tsikhanouskaya thanked Poland for hosting released political prisoners. The sides discussed issues of legalization for Belarusians, including former political prisoners.
They also discussed cooperation between the democratic forces and the Polish Senate, including the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation, the work of the parliamentary group “For a Democratic Belarus” in the Polish Sejm and Senate, and holding a large conference on Belarus in the Polish parliament.
Representatives of the Belarusian delegation outlined the priorities of the democratic forces for 2026 and preparations for elections to the Coordination Council. Possible participation of observers from the Polish parliament was also discussed.
Kidawa-Błońska expressed support for the democratic forces of Belarus and stressed that Warsaw would continue assisting Belarusians in Poland and would keep pressing for the release of all political prisoners, including Andrzej Poczobut.
“In Poland, the Belarusian issue unites all forces and political parties, and here in the Polish parliament there is a consensus on Belarus. I am glad that we have such allies and a shared understanding that only a free and independent Belarus will be a reliable neighbor and partner for Poland and the entire European Union. This is how we fight for the release of people, but our goal is irreversible democratic change in our country,” Tsikhanouskaya said.
