Latvian Citizen Tried to Bring Psychotropic Substances Into Belarus Hidden in a Keychain and Vitamin Bottle

At the Hryharoushchyna checkpoint, Vitsyebsk customs officers discovered psychotropic substances in the belongings of a Latvian citizen who arrived as a passenger in a car.

A service dog indicated the presence of prohibited substances. During the inspection of the man’s personal belongings, yellow and purple pills were removed from a capsule-shaped keychain and a container labeled “Multivitamins.” According to experts from the State Forensic Examination Committee’s Vitsyebsk Regional Department, the pills contained the psychotropic substances tramadol and alprazolam.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under Part 1 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code. He faces up to seven years in prison.
