Latvia Finds Another Tunnel Under Border With Belarus

Latvian border guards have discovered another tunnel leading from Belarusian territory.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, Latvian border guards detained 28 people who had illegally crossed the border from Belarus near Krāslava. During the investigation and inspection of the surrounding area, they discovered a moss-covered, camouflaged exit from a tunnel leading from Belarus. It was located 20 meters from the border.

This is the second tunnel discovered by Latvian border guards. The first was found on Aug. 10, when 15 people were detained.

Tunnels have previously been discovered in Lithuania and Poland.
