Latvia Extends Ban On Imports Of Agricultural Products From Belarus And Russia By One Year

On 1 April, the Latvian Saeima adopted in the final reading a bill extending the ban on imports of agricultural products from Belarus and Russia. It will remain in force until 1 July 2027.

Latvia banned imports of agricultural products from Belarus and Russia on 8 March 2024. The ban also covers animal feed and products arriving through third countries.

The Agriculture Ministry noted a steady and significant decline in imports. During the first 11 months of 2024, imports from Russia fell by 30%, and during the same period of 2025 by a further 85%. Imports from Belarus over the same periods decreased by 12% and 55% respectively, LSM reported.
